Cracked Mud

Since the dawn of agriculture, farmers have been at the mercy of drought, heat, and marginal soil.

The USA has experienced extreme or exceptional drought and heat stress for 23 of the past 24 years (since the year 2000).

Geothermal Soil in Yellowstone National Park, US

In 2002 our team made a discovery regarding how plants adapt to heat stress.

Our study of species in geothermal soil showed that plants can sometimes survive in extreme conditions.

As it turns out, plant health is greatly influenced by a symbiotic relationship with fungal endophytes.

Further testing showed that these endophytes not only protect against heat stress, but also a wide array of other environmental stressors.
